  1. If anyone has access to a picture of the dropouts of a 1999 Attitude frame I'd like to take a look,
as I've heard they're prone to snapping. I received an Attitude frame in late 2002 as a warranty
replacement for various other frames, but I've no idea what its year of manufacture was.

For the record it's a gold frame with a 22mm Hayes disk mount, pic here: btinternet.comklein rhs
dropout.jpg Cursory research suggests it might be the 2000/01 model. Not a big deal, just curious.

It's a 2001 Klein Attitude Race in Aztec Gold. Wanna sell it?

Those are called "Micro Dropouts", and only Klein makes 'em. I had heard that they were very strong.

Thanks, that's all I needed to know - it was just the 99 model that had the problems AFAIK.

Sell it? No - hate the cable routing & rear facing dropouts, but love the way it rides.

I think the problem you're referring to was the derailleur hanger, wasn't it?

Actually, I already have a 2001 Attitude Race exactly like yours. I just upgraded the rear V-brake
to a stiffer spring, and it makes a difference - there's enough drag in the internal cables to
affect braking - probably some grit has worked its way in there. I need to get some new polymer-
coated shifter cables to try to tighten up rear shifting - it's not good. I never had a problem with
8-speed M900 XTR on my '98 Klein Attitude Pro; but 9-speed XT seems to be a problem.

I gave up and now run a full length outer from the shifter to the mech, ziptied onto the top tube -
works great through all weathers. Hydro brakes so that's not a factor.
