  1. For the past two years I have been using a Profile Design H20 90 degree quill stem, raised to (but
not beyond) the minimum insertion mark. No problem there, but I would like to raise the bar about
another inch. I've been riding on the indoor trainer with the stem about an inch outside the minimum
mark, and the position is more comfortable - but I don't want to risk riding it like that on the
road. The Profile stem is about 100 mm from the minimum insert mark to the top - looks like I would
need a stem with about 130 mm above the mark if it's the standard 72-73 degree angle - a little less
might work if the stem was 90 degrees like the Profile. If it matters - I'm 170 lbs, and the
intended use would be strictly on-road - long distance triathlons and training for them.

As others said- Nitto Technomic or Technomic Deluxe.. The Technomic should be available from your
LBS, maybe on special order- I just ordered one a few days ago and picked it up tonight. $38.

Look near the bottom of this page-

    Or here-

One nice advantage to these stems- they look nice. I'm sick of looking down and seeing
    welding beads.

Remember that when you raise the stem you bring it back towards you. Also, Nitto measures its stems
a bit differently than most other companies. Nitto uses a '3-D' 'center to center' while most
companies use a '2-D' 'center to center' looking down from the top. For example, I ordered a 120mm
extension. Most companies would call this a 125 +/- length.

I found that when I raised the bars, I could also go to a slightly longer extension- it was easier
to stretch out a bit more forward when I am not leaning over and down as far. YMMV.

They do long ones in all kinds of reach.
