I have a nice crit frame made of Columbus SL (Stupid Light?) tubing and it has near-horizontal dropouts and 126 spacing. I rarely ride it anymore and I want a fixed gear bike. I figured that if I lopped off the derailer hanger, cable guides on the BB shell, the shifter posts and the cable guides, it would be more pleasing to my eye. I like the original paint and decals which are in good shape.
My questions are:
How can this be done with minimal paint damage? Careful sawing and filing? Once the frame is nicely shaved, how can I best apply matching nail polish so that it doesn't look like too much of a hack job?
