It shows that the 5 year trend is downwards for all road
users bar motorcyclists. It's not new data and only
includes data upto 2002.

And, I should add, it contains the following point, amongst
others, about cycling:

"98. Emerging international research appears to bear out the
belief of cycling interests that there is a correlation
between higher levels of cycling and improved cyclist
safety. This is very encouraging and the Department will be
looking at further research to explore the possible
relationship between cycling casualties and cycling levels
to throw further light on this subject."

Possibly worth quoting to MPs who are wavering on the
helmet bill.

speedophile: how come cameras only kill motorcyclists?

I noticed that info today. His famous silly graphs "proving"
deaths are caused by cameras since 1993 fails to notice 200
extra biker deaths. And there was me trying to point out all
the other changes such as 4x4s and crumple zones.

Anyway ... cameras might make the bikers take more effort to
go out to their rural "playgrounds".
