Hi,
I'm planning to run short distances or whatever I can manage
to do in 30-45 minutes. I'll be running on grassy playing
fields which have some minor undulations in them. I've got
some basic Addidas trainers which seemed to drag a little;
too much cusioning on the heal taper off towards the front.
I'm not really happy about them, they just make everything
so slow and I get tired quickly in them. I also have some
indoor/outdoor trainers I bought for recreational 5-a-side
from some time ago, they have little/no cusioning but they
felt great once I fired up around the playingfields (I wont
be running on the sidewalks/aphsalt/concrete). However, they
are probably not suitable for prolonged running for a
beginner so I went shopping.
And I found Asics Gel-Orbit running shoes. These were in a
UK sale section of a general sportswear shop reduced from
£70 to £40 and I can't find anything about them on google or
Asics UK/US. So has anyone heard of them/used them ?
Or what about (some of these are reduced and the selections
there weren't much, but for my 1st shoe I don't want to
spend mega-bucks and where that leads...) Nike Pegasus
2002's £40, Asics 1090s £55, Asics Kayatos £80 or Asics
2090's £80. The Kayato's felt good but were not in sale in
my size, one of the 1090's felt tight on one foot and they
didn't have other pairs to try, 2090's were too tight at the
ball of the foot, Pegasus good in a short jog up and down
the store, and the Gel-Orbits better than them. I ignored
most of the Nike/Reebok/Addidas because, well, just because
I want something to run in, not look at. There are more
Asics there from the £30-60 range but I've listed those that
were on sale and I had tried for fit.
The past couple of years I've been cycling, so I'm not going
to be put of running so easily. Any verdict on the Gel-Orbit
? It was odd that the 1090's were tight on just one foot, no
problems with the other shoes I tried but the only pair they
had in. Are they better than the Orbit's ?
Arrghh, tomorrow I'll be taking the Addidas out again I
guess. Hehehe, I'll see how that goes. I've been reading
bits here and there of this newsgroup before I went went out
looking but well, it wasn't so easy for me to choose.
