I honestly don't think there is one Food Network chef
that is on the level of the Iron Chefs. I have so much

That's funny. I actually made the smoker when that show
aired. I've made some incredible salmon at my friend's
house. They could not believe their eyes. Twigs for racks.
I still laugh at that.

Your points are excellent. Although I had my share of
problems with Alton's recipes, he is one fantastic food
person. Down to earth.

Any average cook with 3 or 4 people to command and a
million dollar's worth of Foie Gras and Lobster and
truffles. You'd have to be a true idiot not to come up with
something pretty and tasty at the same time. Not taking
away from the Iron Chefs but there is a difference between
show food and real good eating.

Yeah, Alton's not a chef, he's the first that will tell you
that. Well, neither am I! I appreciate his show and I read
his book with great interest.

I didn't try the cardboard smoker for the salmon, although
it looks like fun.

I was watching the show Making of Iron Chef last night. One
of the staff was shopping for food for one of the chefs, not
sure which one. He had already spent $250 and stated it was
only about 1/10th of the food needed for one show. For $2500
even I should be able to whip up something creative. I think
for that amount of money I'd hire my own chef.

The show is growing on me though. It is very entertaining
and the one sous chef on Mario's team, manipulating that hot
sugar into strings was fascinating.

I agree 100%. These are probably the 2 most entertaining
shows on the Network. Although I'm not a "sweet" type of
guy, on occassion I enjoy watching Jacques Torres, he is a
magician with chocolate.

His approach is silly. I could do without the gimmicks, the
props, the puppets. It's like sesame street. Far too much
silliness for me.

Many religious people do not share that viewpoint. Why would
a Sunday school teacher be teaching intolerance anyway? I
don't believe anyone is asking anyone else to conform.
Acceptance is the goal. Not hatred and intolerance. Of
course there are those out there that prefer to wallow in
their own ignorance and intolerance, bleating about the sins
of others, while commiting sins themselves. Rather

Josh's Mahogany Chicken Wings

15 chicken wings (3 pounds)
1/2 cup soy sauce
2/2 cup honey
3/4 cup molasses 2 tablespoons chili sauce 1 teaspoon ground
ginger 2 cloves garlic, finely chopped

4. Place chicken in a shallow glass or plastic bowl. Mix the
remaining ingredients and pour over chicken. Cover and
refridgerate 1 hour, turning ocassionally.

5. Heat oven to 375. Line broiler pan with aluminum foil.
Remove chicken from marinade, and reseve the left over
marinade. Place chicken in a single layer on rack in foil
lined broiler pan; brush with marinade.

6. Bake 30 minutes then turn chicken over. Bake about 20
minutes longer, brushing occasionally with marinade,
until deep brown and juice of the chicken is no longer
pink when centers of the thickest pieces are cut.

Discard any remaining marinade.

* Never wear anything you like while eating these wings
since you tend to make a pig of yourself.

Gosh it looks good. I'm just a bit worried. You know,
reading this thread. I could make this, but then I'm no
longer sure if I turn gay?

Next thing I know, I'll be coming home from "cruizin'" for
