Does anyone have experience with Serfas RX saddles? I'm
after a split saddle for my hybrid (I'm fed up with
numb nuts) and they're not outrageously overpriced like
most. But, of course, I'm curious to know if they live
up to the hype.

I used one for awhile until I found a leather Terry saddle
on sale. I think you'll like the Serfas saddles. the price
is right and they are comfortable.

They're pretty nice, especially when $$ is compared to other
saddles. Remember though that no part of a bike is more
personal than a saddle - only your experience will matter.

I have one of these, the model for females. Biggest problem
is that the fabric is not robust -- if you read reviews,
this is the one big beef about these saddles. Now I have a
saddle cover, and choosing to ignore rips.

We sell an incredible number of that saddle so sombody likes
it. Personally I find it bouncy . Depends on your riding
position I guess.

I tried one but it did not work too well for me on long
distances. I switched to a Velo VL-6031 Deluxe that is wider
and even more cushy than the RX, but that's just me. You
will never know until you try it yourself. Here are some

Indeed. There are two versions of Serfas RX. We used to sell
the fabric cover but they are, as you note, less than
durable. Now we sell the same-price vinyl top variant.

My RX worked very well on its first short tour (so far) - 70
miles a day for 5 days, no pain at all after I got off the
bike each day. Of course, there was some discomfort after
being on the saddle for a while, but adjusting my position
from time to time took care of that. One of the most
comfortable saddles I've used.
The decals wear off really quickly though, and it's pretty
chunky. But for $10, it was great!

I have had one for over a year on various bikes. Mine is
probably a version of the "Mens" model. Recently I have been
trying more fancy saddles at half the weight but over 2x the
price. Now I have put the Serfas back on and it is really
the nicest ride for me by far. This model has just the right
shape and proportions and padding for me. It also seems to
really help the numbness. I am average weight+ and average
cheeks+. The only drawbacks being:: Quite heavy at 500G
considering half the saddle is missing! The velour has worn
off at the cheeks pressure points. Significantly this is
near the back, and right on the outside showing this is
where it is supporting, and where the fancy saddles have
this support area missing. Not sure if it will wear further,
no other part is worn. I will certainly be looking for
another one, especially the lighter rails model although it
appears to have a longer nose, which I do not like.

'Sleepy winkie' is more likely a bike fit issue rather than
a saddle design issue. I would do a fit first, before you
spend any $ on a saddle.

The men's versions have the longer nose while the women's
versions have shorter noses. You could measure the width of
both (and your sit bones) and

new bike and have an extra Serfas RX for sale if you are
interested. I rode on it once. I'll sell it to you for $25.

I rode a Serfax RX saddle on my hybrid for about 6 months and it was OK for short rides and my commute (20 miles r.t.) but for rides longer than an hour it became painful in various ways that no amount of adjusting could fix. I replaced it about 4 months ago with a Brooks B17 standard (for $40 on sale) and after an initial break-in period of a month I can honestly say it is the most comfortable saddle I've ever ridden.
You'll find a lot of opinions/information about Brooks saddles if you search around but it seems that most (not all) people also consider them the most comfortable saddles but they require more care than other saddles. If you buy from wallbike.com, they have a 6 month return policy which gives you plenty of time to decide.

and a good quality plastic shell with firm foam and leather
cover saddle on another bike. I like the Brooks the best,

My saddle came with the bike, it's a Tioga that doesn't even
have slide rails (if I loosen the nuts I can tilt it but not
slide it forward or back), so fitting is probably
questionable. The Serfas looks like good value, based on
what most people have said, and would undoubtedly be a
significant improvement on what I've got. Now, if you've got
a suggestion for my sore knees I'm all ears. :-)
