  1. i've recently been doing 30 min rides in the morning before school, and in turn waking up about an hour earlier. I do this in addition to my regular training(10-15 hours per week) I was wondering if this has any real (non psycological) benifits, or is it detrimental to my cycling?

  2. You do not need the 30 minute ride in the morning. If you are triaining 10-15 hours a week your body needs the rest. The body will only build stronger through hard training and amble rest. by you waking up early to do extra riding you are not giving your body the time it needs to recover properly. In the long run it will start to hurt your times. Your body will become over-trained.

  3. If the 30 minute ride was an easy recovery ride, then it can be helpful in keeping the legs loose. On rest days I might break the recovery rides into two sessions, especially if I'm feeling tight in the morning after a hard effort from the previous day and I can't wait until later to get the legs moving.

If you have 30 minutes up your sleeve in the morning, I would get on the rollers and spin as a recovery ride.

You are a track rider, as disclosed in another thread, so you should have a set of rollers.

Elite endurance track riders (TT, pursuit) would have three sessions per day. Morning and evening spinning 60 minutes on rollers with the main training session during the day.
