Can anyone tell me, if car parking charges have been
implemented at the main car park? And if so. What charges
are imposed too backpackers that leave their vehicle there
overnight or even longer?
TIA

The sign says £2 a visit - I interpreted it to not mean a
day. I left my car in the same position for four days
without any problem.
Alternative solution is to borrow someone's National Trust
membership card and stick that on your dashboard.

Yes - and National Trust for Wales.

I was there last year (summer) and only noticed the sign re
charging on return. I did not feel the slightest bit guilty
about not paying. Then I realised I was an NTS member
anyway........

LOL! I figured that out "borrow ", when the proposals were
made;-) Thank God, for my in-laws, who've lent me their NTS
membership card :-0
Therefore no meters are in place then? As of 7/05/2004!

Last Summer! They weren't charging then, IIRC.

From the NT handbook: "Members of the National Trust are
also admitted free of charge to properties of the National
Trust for Scotland, a separate charity with similar
responsibilities."
I used to be a member of the NTS and a similar arrangement
applies to properties in England and Wales.

Mmm, I've got a date of 25th September for a walk including
Ben Macdui, I'm convinced there were pay-and-display
machines on site. I could be wrong and confusing the car
park with the one out at Spittal of Glenmuick.

LOL. Autumn then ;-) I was there in July 2003, signs were
displayed advising of the charging policy and new layout of
the Car/ P only.
