Should I update a Panasonic DX-4000?

keep my brakes and I'm assuming that the front derailer
can stay but the rear might not have the range. Also, I

No, I think it is a good idea. Piece it together on ebay and
you will have what you want. I upgraded my bicycle a few
years ago and it turned out to be a great decision. The
Panasonic is a good bike.
