Scafell Pikes to Scafell

There is only one way (unless you want to do some rock
climbing up Broad Stand) and that is go SW down to
Mickledore, then SE about 200 yards until you see a gully up
to the right. Climb this up to Foxes Tarn and follow the
path up to the top.

If you do a search on Google for Scafell you will find many
pictures, also including the Foxes Tarn route. I found some
very clear pictures this way that display the situation very
clearly. I've got one in my database but don't know the
website where I got it from anymore.

There is a very good article, (or what seems to be) on the
routes to, from, in-between with photos, and diagrams etc.
in this month's Trail magazine (or was it last month's). It
may be worth a purchase.

As posted, via Mickledore and up past Foxes Tarn is the best
route without climbing. I did this route from Seatoller over
Glaramara to Scafell Pike then on to Sca Fell. Returned via
Scafell Pike and Grains Gill route. A short description of

AS you have done Scafell Pike you could consider approaching
Scafell from Eskdale along the obvious ridge of the mountain
over slight Side. A lot of it is fairly unexciting (Slight
side itself is interesting), but you get a better feel of
the mountain than just popping over to the summit from
Scafell Pike, you can also go up into upper Eskdale

and approach foxes tarn route from below, you get good views
of Scafells eastern crags from that route.

What is safe ? I've seen a man being killed by totally
unexpected rockfall from An Casteil on the Cuillin Ridge. A
Via Ferrata on Scafell ?
