  1. I've been testing out different sports drinks.

So far I've tried: Gatorade Poweraid Cytomax - Cytosport,
    Inc. Revenge - Champion

I used the same drink for 2weeks each while
running...wondering if anyone else has had the same
experience while using Cytomax. The other drinks didn't
really change how I felt. Cytomax (Tropical Fruit) not only
quenched my thirst but I felt great during and after my run.
I know I sound like a commercial, but has anyone else have
this experience? What's in Cytomax that makes it seem so
    much better?

    Thanks for all replies!

I like Cyto too. I suspect the ginseng (which is a mild
stimulant) may make it a bit addicting. It has a good taste
(I prefer orange and grape flavors), but for very long runs,
as with all pure carbo drinks, your stomach can get acidic.

I also like Accelerade (which has 25% protein). It seems to
settle the stomach, and goes down even better than Cytomax.
Supposedly, the body will make good use of the protein
    during exercise, and recover faster.

I alternate, and even mix the two.

    some of their other links)

I prefer cytomax over gatorade, and haven't tested the
others you mention (discussed my others recently in another
thread). Note that the different flavors of cytomax have
somewhat different ingredients, with the ginseng being in
orange, peach, and grape, I think.gelfire.com/electronic/ultramentor/product_contents/cytomax-
    contents.html

Directions on the envelopes of cytomax result in stronger
mixes than directions from cans. I didn't care for the
orange when I first tested, but am not sure if it was mixed
too strong (envelope) or it was the "herbal lift" aspect
(from the ginseng?), but I've only tested non-herbal lift
flavors since. Cool citrus is what I use most (very mild
flavor) but have envelopes of Apple Berry and Tropical Fruit
    to test (along with Accelerade).

  5. I keep telling you guys, there is no finer sports drink
than natures finest concocktion, your own urine. It keeps
your body in perfect balance by replacing the lost fluids
with those very same fluids. Also, it just plain tastes
    real good!

In all likelyhood it isn't as much as what is in Cytomax
but rather what is in you that makes Cytomax seem so
    much better.

There a whole host of combinations between your body and
Cytomax when you drink it. I doubt it is one particular
thing, and looking for it may be fruitless.

Also don't forget that over any given 2 week period your
body changes along with your habits. Perhaps the 2 weeks you
tried Cytomax was the 2 weeks where your schedule allowed
you more rest. And the boost your felt had more to do with
being better rested. Maybe you are psychologically prone to
believe that products with the letter "x" in them are
better. It could be even weather related. Don't limit your
    research to the drink alone.

I'd love to tell you it is the hydrogen bond attached to the
6th carbon atom in the glucose molicule that allows for
better absorbtion. But I really doubt it is one factor.

My experience with sports drinks is that they give me cramps
if I drink them while running. No matter how much no matter
how fast. I have to get my energy on the run from powerbars.

My advice (as with shoes) buy lots of it before they go and
    change it.

A few strong beers the night before...just enough to make
you feel like you don't want to run when you wake the next
morning. Stop drinking alcohol about 2 hours before bed and
drink a few glasses of water within that hour, giving
yourself the next hour before bed for your kidneys to work.
too much water will keep you going to the bathroom and
disturb your sleep. If you wake up to go to the bathroom,
drink another glass of water if it is after 3am. Do your pre-
run rituals and drink whatever you want during the run, just
make sure you have a long easy warmup/first 3 miles. I
haven't done this in a while but it always is fun.

something i have taken to doing the evening before a run -
if i happen to want to have a few beers - is throw back a
glass of water in between beers. this keeps me well hydrated
so that there's no hangover and so i can run and feel good
at the same time the next morning.

with it...also found on their website
(cytosport.comcytosport.com) that alot of endurance athletes
use it...so guess I'm not too far off track!
