13.3 km at 8.1 percent = similar to Alpe d'Huez in
steepness/length. It was marked Cat. 2 in the road book,
but should have been Cat. 1, especially as it was the
finish climb.Ullrich was worse on the climbs in TdS last year.

I am pretty sure he's not horribly worried either. He wasn't
even supposed to be team leader and probably wasn't
expecting to win. Also, there is the final time trial on
Sunday. Remember, Armstrong didn't win the Mont Ventoux TT
in the Dauphine,and I don't remember hearing dire
predictions when that happened. -

year he's had better preparation and a better team behind
him. He's at his physical peak rather than sliding down the

in this race, because they're all committed to Ullrich and
they are freely sacrificing themselves for his benefit -
even Botero, who seems to be using his ITT abilities to act
as a peloton-leading powerhouse in the flats.And don't discount Totschnig, he is not a minor rider. Last
year, he was one of a few racers to compete in both the Giro
and the Tour, and he placed in the top-15 of both. This year
he has skipped the Giro and will probably lead the
Gerolsteiner team for the Tour as a major sleeper.-Sonarrat.
