Most of my speculations turn out false. That is to be
expected. I believe it matches the numbers of radioactive
decay versus stable elements in that 90% of atoms are
stable and 10% is radioactive, and also, there is
radioactive decay where uranium goes down to lead and
radioactive growth where rarely a uranium atom goes up in
number to become a plutonium atom. Almost all radioactivity
is decay but there exists some growth so that whereas
99.9999 % is decay there is some small and tiny growth.
These numbers I feel are ingrained in how accurate our
ideas of a new theory are. In other words 99.9999 % of new
ideas of new theories turn out false and only a rare,
highly rare new ideas turn out to be true.
But it does not stop us from making new theories.
So, let me throw out this one because of my recent musings
on the subject. I believe the Manufacturing-Viroid-Site
Model of prion disease is more accurate than the Prusiner
Model of prion disease. That leaves me with the question of
what sort of Viroid or Virus-Debris-Particle causes the
prion transmissible disease? And my best guess or
speculation is some virus of the Foot&Mouth or Hoof&Mouth
family of viruses. Some debris particle of Foot&Mouth is my
best candidate at this moment.
That makes sense because sheep and cattle are the worlds
highest incidence of prion disease. So that perhaps
Hoof&Mouth has mutated to the point where it causes these
prion diseases. And for humans has jumped the species.
Does anyone know if Foot&Mouth is related to the hepatitis
family of viruses? Foot&Mouth are easily spread but I am not
talking of the whole virus but rather a debris particle.
Hepatitis is blood only and when feedstock or food is
supplemented with protein, well that is old blood.
I am not talking of the full virus but talking about its
protein coat and any other protein molecules that a virus
makes. It could be a fragment of the virus which is a
viroid. But since DNA and RNA are never found in prion
disease then it would be the viral protein coat.
Perhaps when a Hoof&Mouth or hepatitis virus are in an
animal that dies or is butchered for food that the virus
itself is inactivated but the protein coat of the virus
remains there. So that the virus itself is "dead" but the
coat remains as a transmissible agent.
Has anyone run a genome over Foot& Mouth virus or hepatitus
virus and is there any resemblance of a sequence of PrP
found in these viral genomics.
