  1. I've decided to fix up a 20 some year old steel frame 5-speed Nishiki road bike. I have never done anything like this before and would like some comments from those who have done such things.

    Many of the components and drivetrain are weathered and loaded with some kind of gunk. Brakes and derualer still work, but could use some tuning.

    Is there any solvents I should soak components in or something of that nature to get this bike like new?

    I apologize for my ignorance on the subject, but would greatly appreciate any help.
