I had all the symptoms of Morton's neuroma so I got wider
shoes, but that didn't seem to help.

Then I would try to spread my toes occasionally, while
running, and that seemed to help a little bit. After a
while, I didn't have any of the symptoms of neuroma.

Your mileage my vary.

Yeah, I had neuromas (neuromae?) in both feet, right was
worse than left. I already had orthotics, but podiatrist
added a raised area just behind the metatarsal arch. I had
to change the way I lace my shoes (see runnerswo-runnerswo-Open ↗

"High Instep). I'm now neuroma free.

Yeah, I had neuromas (neuromae?) in both feet, right was
worse than left. I already had orthotics, but podiatrist

STEP BACK FROM THE DOCTOR, NOW. I would not be thinking of
surgery until more time and alternatives have been explored.
Stuff comes and goes. Who is to say the "growth" won't come
right back anyway? The surgery could cause all kinds of
other problems. And you have two feet with the same
situation, supposedly. How is this doctor so sure of the
problem now and that surgery is the only way? Then why did
he give you cortisone? By the way, you don't want more
cortisone shots.
