  1. Excuse my naivety - first time I have used newsgroups!

Does anyone have any suggestions for healing quickly after
breaking my shoulder blade and collar bone - been three
weeks now and although my collar bone was plated and screwed
(even more after what I did to it!) my movement in my arm is
very poor. Physio sessions are pretty much daily but I can
only move it thru rotation when on my side and the arm is in
being held in a sling from the ceiling. I have no movement
away from my body and can only just raise my whole arm to
about 20 degrees from rest when standing. Have had a session
of reiki - couldn't really gauge if there was any success
and am taking glucosamine sulphate and cod liver oil
    supplements.

Getting down with being off work - to add insult to injury
I think I may have gained a hernia in the process of
getting up and down, not having the use of my arm that
    well. Ho hum.....

    Thanks

  3. Hi, Take a look at proteolytic enzymes at your local health
food store. Make sure that they are enteric coated so that
they dissolve in your intestines and make their way to your
blood stream where they will eat up damaged protein
complexes., sites of inflammation. Increase protein
consumption to speed healing, and make sure you are taking a
multimineral that is high in calcium. This should kick start
your situation Add some pantothenic acid to your mix, or
something to provide adrenal factors for stress reduction.

Three weeks is NOT A LONG TIME! Your goal right now is to
maitaibn some level of flexibility, with the physical
therapy sessions, and avoid doing anything that screws up
    th ehealing.

Sound like you are doing well.

Make sure you are getting calcium and vitamins A and D -
any calcium supplement will do, and a multi-vitamin
    supplement too.

That and a diet with moderate protein, moderate fats, and
lots of fresh fruits and veggies and whole grain stuff.

unfortunately you fractured one of the hardest bone in the
body to heal..the shoulder blade is quite large. and very
difficult to immobilize into a position that the oposing
ends of the fracture can "set" and heal the break..

personally I have no knowledge of the supplement Tom/Doe
suggests..but it clearly cannot hurt to try it..all
    allergies notwithstanding..

me thinks you are impatient..and not that I blame you..but
three weeks is a very very short time since time of injury..

this is quite normal at this stage..don't attempt to PUSH
the rehab faster than your techs are helping you
with..sometimes it takes just a degree a day...slowly to get
    to the end result..

good luck...be patient...time will heal it...in the meantime
I hope you are eating a healthy diet..getting adequate
    rest..and following the orthopedist's orders...

bones..in my estimation (and personal experience)...are the
slowest part of the body to heal...and usually cannot be
    rushed....

  6. Hi Tom,

I agree with Hawki that 3 weeks is not very long to heal
such an injury. It does take time for the body to heal and
is best to take things in small steps and celebrate any
positive changes. I had a friend who badly broke his wrist
last summer. The injury took a while to heal but he did use
a really good calcium suppliment called Osteoprocare which
he says really helped rebuild his bone. He ordered this
liquid calcium from LifeForce International and here is a
website you can read more about it and order from.

I take this calcium myself and really like it. Let me know
    what you think.
