Hi John, I have an Ultimate Stand, but not the Pro Model, I
have the next one down from it, and I'm happy with it. It is
solid, and sturdy, well made, and works fine.
I gather that the Pro Stand has a little different
arrangement for the Frame Tube Clamping system, so this
might be a little bit better than the one I have. Can be a
little tricky while holding the bike up, and then trying to
spin the T-handle to clamp the Tube with mine.
The only other small gripe I can find with my Ultimate
Stand, is that they don't come with a Carrying Bag, and this
would've been nice, especially considering the price of
these. I imagine one could be found that is made for a
Camera Tripod? (Bogen?)
Pedro's Stand looks to be nice also, (Not sure if a carrying
bag comes with these?) and another stand I would check out
which has the qualities you are looking for is the Topeak
Prep Stand. Around the same price as the Pedro Stand, and I
see Performance Bike has these Topeak Stands currently on
sale. They do come with a carrying bag it says.
Hope this helps you, Mark

Quoted message said:What repair stand do you think is the best for me? I'm a
"home" bicycle tech but I like the "smooth" of a good
tool. Needs to pack up to go to Arizona once a year so
it's gotta fit in the van. Also needs to look good a TT or
other event once in a while.
Considering Pedro's, Ultimate Pro. Not too excited about
Park -- they don't have the tripod legs for uneven ground
or floors.
Your advice?
