Lamers Who Lack Coordination (LWLCs) are exactly the type of people who seem
to gravitate towards toeclips. They have this weird idea that toeclips are
safer and easier to use than clipless pedals.

I work in a bike store. The only riders I've seen buy toeclips there are
LWLCs and Retro-Grouch Kooks (RGKs). For the most part, the RGKs are also
LWLCs.

Certain trails parts of the country ( U.S. ) have soils that contain
substances that are extremely abrasive to clipless pedals (i.e.
Bentonite) that can destroy a good pair of clipless pedals . I use
toeclips there and when commuting to work . When commuting to work ,
the toeclips eliminite the need of carrying an extra pair of shoes .
And , with some practice , are as easy to disengage as clipless . Been
doing this for 25 years and the toeclips DON'T get clogged with snow
in the winter .

They don't disengage as easily as clipless when it is most important, ie.
when you are crashing, especially over the handlebars. With clipless, any
good violent jolt to the side, or even sort of to the side) is enough to
disengage them. Yes, you could ride the toe-straps lose. But then what's the
point?
