  1. There was yet another wild fire in eastern WA. This time, in
the Lake Chelan area. What caused me to do a double-take
was the non-chalant manor of the news anchor.

I had the news on while getting ready for work. Preparing my
lunch, I heard something like, "The ____ wild fire apparently
was caused when an owl carrying a chicken landed on a power
    line..."

    !!!??!?

So I came home from work and turned on the news. A yes,
    pictures of the owl carcass.

An owl snatched a chicken and tried to land on a power line.
Somehow it managed to short itself out and burst into flames.
One wing was completely burned off, and the flaming body
fell to the ground, landing with a shower of sparks, easily
igniting the dry brush. Hence the fire...

And the moral of the story is: In eastern Wa if you steal poultry
    you will fry.

Another good point. Always tighten the cap on your BBQ
    sauce.

Ughh! Talking about true stories... yet another...

Came home from work today and turned on the local news. This occurred
at St. Edward State Park (which is connected to Big Finn Hill, very popular
mountain bike area's). Somebody called the police after finding someone's
thumb tangled in a rope swing. The police made some calls and found out
that someone at a nearby hospital had lost his thumb on a ropeswing at St.
Edward. The cops packed the thumb on ice and delivered it to the hospital
for re-attachment. And this is only Tuesday.

I always knew you Northerners are weird folk. Who the hell would a piece
of their body behind? Even if it couldn't be reattached, I'd keep it in
a glass jar on my desk.
