Heart rate and cold weather

I've never noticed much difference in cold weather, but I do notice a
big change on hot days. Running or cycling in 35 degrees has my heart
rate about 10 beats up on normal.

Fight or flight response, your body is reacting to the threat of cold.
Followed by increased mucus production to protect the capiliaries in your
lungs and decreased blood circulation to extremities.
all this while your head is saying go harder, i need oxygen for exercise.

I've reviewed my P-HRM files and yes temps well below 17 degrees show
higher reading, or it might just be I'm riding harder to keep warm.... <BG>

the lower the temps, the lower the heartbeat, until you eventually die in
case of extreme cold.
you probably worked harder to keep warm.

Ditto. The heart pumps harder because blood is pushed through
small capillaries under the skin, to loose heat.
