  1. hello,

i just got a new old bicycle, i 'd like to now how old it is. but i
searched in vain. i hope you can help...

rear wheel has a torpedo brake hub (single speed)
    engraved:
    28
    F. & S.
    Schweinfurt
    (eagle logo here)
    torpedo
    system sachs
    < D.P. >
    made in
    germany

    wheels are 28"

brake arm says torpedo schweinfurt sachs then sachs S logo

bike is a 'royal nord' (this is a belgian brand that made motorcycles
    i believe)
with handpainted accents on the frame. lion logo.

rear tire probably original 'sawnheys' brand (made in india -
    completely black)

Miller headlight, glass with miller logo in relief and a '10' number.

    thank you very much!

  2. Won't your wife be jealous if you start dating a bicycle?

    Dear Rayee,

Gentlemen do not inquire about age, but this site might lead
you to your beloved's birth certificate:

    http://www.royalnord.be/links.asp

Unfortunately, it's slow to load, not in English, and
    possibly infested with mopeds.

I beg you not to publish any weight--asking about the
    bicycle's age was bad enough.

    Severely,

    Carl Fogel

Gosh, I thought the game involved dating the youngest bike you can
    find ...

I don't need help dating an old bike, they are hitting on me all the
    time ...

could be worse .. over in sci.astro.amateur they're dating presolar grains
tho not jon isaacs (i checked).

this question and the is it ok to hang your bike from a hook question seem
to reliably generate the same jokes every time.

errrr, that came out way wrong .. i meant that jon isn't dating presolar
grains. i can't and didn't mean to comment on whether the rest of
sci.astro.amateur is or is not dating him.

could be .. it is possible. i'm not making a comment either way.

I thought you were implying that Jon Isaacs was a presolar grain.

  10. The poor dude had a question and we gave him 9 "joke" responses. We
ought to refer him to the "i've been misslead" thread for more
    satisfaction :-)

Rayee: Please forgive us, we are not too smart in this newsgroup.
    Hopefully someone will answer you.

    Dear Andres,
