I wouldn't completely discount Cancellara or his team. With the entire squad under one minute behind the leader they may be burning too fast to last and we haven't seen them in the mountains. Cancellara seemed to ride hard today and still had some fuel at the end. -- Good signs

Agreed. CSC was the one strong TTT team that wasn't using their rouleurs to push it hard today (other than Voigt).
Plus, with 7 more stages until the Pyrenees, Postal would rather that CSC does the work of controlling the peloton then them. Should CSC be in the lead when Postal cruises by the last time check tomorrow (in first), don't be surprised if they loose just enough time to finish in second.

Thats never how USPS have done it in the past - they've always taken whatever time they can in the TTT - why change now?

Cause the format of the TTT is different this year. If they come in first by 2 minutes or 20 seconds, the time they gain will be the same.
But I just reread the rules and see that the maximum gap between first and second is 20 seconds rather than 10 which I first believed, so that's a bit more tempting to go for the strategy of coming in first and then putting George, Floyd or Jose in all the breaks to make Phonak and TMO chase.
Either way is good.
Plus, I think CSC could take it straight out. Riis has made it a team objective, CSC didn't work nearly as hard on the front today, and they've got some horses as well.

Voigt is just 7 seconds in frontof Lance in GC.
I certainly like and respect Team CSC but they'll need a miracle to beat US Postal in the TTT.

So they'll still want to gain whatever time is available!
