39 minutes and 41 seconds....First place, but not enough to shatter Pantanis record....no team to draft him up...it shows that drafting is important, but I also think that that crowd was too big and insane! -

VeloNews is reporting that LA missed Pantani's record by only one second! (The stage began 1.5 km before the start of the climb)

Unfortunately, my ReplayTV cut off the ending of the stage, so I didn't see it, but I heard that Lance looked like he had plenty to spare at the end. Did he let up at all at the end once he had the stage well in hand? -

Um no! He can take a lot of credit for his ride today, to get within 1 sec of a man like Pantani deserves accolades.
