A helmet can save your life

My last crash at 20 mph it cracked the helmet not my
head. And I was able to ride out of the woods and on home.

HAHAHAHA. sure, it'll save you from most situations. But if you fall too hard it's gonna crack more than your helmet. I got lucky, I endoed off of a 5 foot ridge onto a parkin lot headfirst. Split me helmet in half. I walked away with twice the balls and half the I.Q.

Conspiracy theory: the helmet czars paid off the AHA to tell people this.
Probably got plants in the Red Cross as well. After all, anybody who can
get people to pay $50-100 for a piece of styrofoam has themselves a pretty
good racket. :-)

I've yet to crash my head into anything. IMO it's better to crash your limbs
or torso into something than your head. Though if I'd got a helmet, I'm sure
I'd want my money's worth 😉.

I have hit my head a few times but never bad enough to have needed a helmit(on and off a bike). The only time i could see wearing one is while raceing if its required, or if its a trail that is impossible to ride without falling and hitting your head. I almost always wear a helmit while riding 4 wheelers and dirtbikes, but at 60+ mph I would say its a little higher risk. Be smart, not safe.

My cousin, at 9 years old, was riding his bike at a local park at our family
reunion. He was in a parking lot and tried to make a slow turn in front of
a curb, lost his balance and fell striking his head on the curb.

It killed him.

I have worn a helmet ever since, 24 years and counting. Twice in mountain
biking I have shattered helmets, both times I was able to ride away.

Helmets are a good thing.

I don't really have a dog in this hunt, but do occasionally like to
give one bit of anecdotal evidence that helmets can indeed do what
they're designed to do...
