Has anyone seen an interview with Lance explaining the reasons behind

..sig).Long story short: Simeoni accused Dr. Michele Ferrari of advising on
doping. Lance (who has had connections to Ferrari) said Simeoni was a
big liar. Simeoni has filed a lawsuit against Lance. That matter is
pending. So when Simeoni jumped up to join the break, Lance chased him. The
presence of a GC hopeful in the break completely poisoned any chance it
had of getting away, so the break asked Simeoni to go back to the pack.
And when Simeoni returned to the peloton, Lance dropped off too, his
_work_ done. The moral of the story? Don't [censored] Lance.

hat's clear enough, but what was the deal with leaving the other six
guys to continue the breakaway? Could Lance have stayed with them and
possibly have won the stage? Or if he did, would it have compromised his
TT performance tomorrow? If so would winning or doing very well int the
TT likely be a better payoff for him?Mike

but the peloton would have worked like a freight train to catch them, and
likely would have. His effort was hard, but I don't think hard enough to
endanger his TT performance.Simeoni, I think, is the one who blew it. In the face of all that happened, he
should have just dropped the F-bomb, then attacked the breakaway with a hard
time trial effort to win. He should have made Lance really think whether
staying on his wheel as some sort of lesson was worth the energy expenditure.
If Simeoni had to drop out from fatigue afterwards, so what? He wasn't going
to win anyway, and he would have shown some guts.--

laugh at him.
Besides, Ullrich would have chased down the break if Lance stayed in it.
Then Lance would be humiliated instead. -

Then Lance would be humiliated instead.Ullrich, Basso, Kloden, their support riders, and well, the whole
peleton would have chased him down. Lance doesn't get go in a break
away until late climbs in the big mountain stages; and then only
because most riders are simply unable to chase. With Lance or any
of the other top GC contenders in it, any breakaway today would have
been doomed. Probably top points contenders would have killed a
breakaway too. If Stuart O'Grady had tried to jump on it, a bunch
of riders from Lotto-Domo, Crédit Agricole and T-Mobile would have
been all over it.Ryan Cousineau said:

Yeah. That's not a good idea. Especially right before the TdF.
Lance had the power to crush his hopes of a stage win and he
used that power. Here's an excerpt from:
http://www.velonews.com/tour2004/details/articles/6647.0.htmlArmstrong stood by his actions, claiming it was on behalf
of all riders. "I was protecting the interests of the
peloton. The other riders were very grateful," he said."I followed Simeoni. He is not a rider the peloton wants
to be in the front group. All he does is attack the peloton,
says bad things about the other riders and group in general.
When I came back I had a lot of people patting me on the back."Simeoni ... it is a long history and (with) a guy like that,
all he wants to do is to destroy cycling ... to destroy the
sport that pays him."For me that is not correct. And when back with the group I
cannot say how many riders said: ‘Hey, chapeau ... thank you
very much.' -

blood between Simeoni and Armstrong. Simeoni often says quite
disparaging things of the peloton when interviewed, so there really were
a LOT more riders than just Lance who wanted to see Simeoni reeled in.
I suspect he's just an unpleasant person in general (but of course
that's just speculation).--

This is going to be the big event of this tour, I think, like the "Look" of
years gone by. I think I've seen more posts on this topic than any other single
topic of the tour, and as far as any ones standings goes, this makes no
difference at all.. But it really added to the drama -

I don't think Lance is in any position for humiliation. He did what he did to make a point:Don't [censored] where you eat.
