Spring wasn't the only thing that sprung today.
Haven't been out much because of the weather and trail conditions. The
torrential rain and flooding finally stopped a couple of days ago, the sun
is shining and the trails have been drying out.
Got out for a couple of hours today and started with a long tarmac climb on
one side of the hill before reaching the summit, riding the fireroad along
the ridge top. I've got to get fitter if I'm going to be doing this sort of
thing in Colorado next month. Stopped to admire the view:

The really fun part is hidden amongst the pines below. The hard packed clay
trail loops around and sweeps up and down amongst the trees. Incredible fun
but, oh, too little of it!
Back to the tarmac and the 5km loop back to where the car was parked. As
I'm putting the bike back into the car something small and metal falls to
the ground - I'd snapped the bolt that hold the top of the rear shock to the
seatpost tube. It looks like it'd been fatigued across the threads but I
suppose that the pounds of winter padding that I had mysteriously acquired
didn't help.
Stopped at the hardware store on the way back home and found a worthy
replacement. Might get some new bushings too.
