I sometimes dislike overhauling bottom brackets. All that finagling, getting the adjustable cup /almost/ just right, so when the lock ring goes on, it /is/ just right. And then hoping the cranks get back on tight enough, and having to monitor them for the next few 10s of kilometers.
Getting a frayed strand of old inner cable up under my fingernail ain't much fun either.
Maybe I shouldn't have attempted bike maintenance during a retrograde Mercury period. OTOH, maybe riding an un-overhauled bike during a retrograde Mercury period would be even worse.
cheers, Tom

Apparently during mercury retrograde, all kinds of mechanical things can go wrong. It's supposed to be a good time to back up your computer.
Just a couple of days ago, a friend got sideswiped by a car and knocked onto the sidewalk (hit and run). He's mostly unhurt, but his shifter is busted and he's NOT a happy camper.
