P,1,2 Dope Testing

In yet another example of dubious cycling behavior, I watched a fellow
competitor pull out a plastic bag half way through the a 70 mile RR, take 2
dubious-looking capsules, then attack a lap later to make a break. Anyone
who races has seen stuff like that go on (especially in the parking lot of
any crit that has more than $1500 in prize money)

I've decided that I'd be willing to spend an extra $5 to 10 on entry fees if
it meant that drug testing would be performed at the race.

you're subject to IOC testing almost certainly gets used.

Note that I never said that the guy in question was doing anything illegal.
However, its very easy and convenient to get electrolytes from an any number
of electrolyte drinks that are on the market, and which can be very
conveniently mixed with water and put in a bottle. Therefore, when I see
someone going through the trouble of digging pills or capsules out of a
plastic baggie located in their jersey pocket while riding down the road at
30 mph, my inclination is to think that its probably not electrolyte pills
they're going for.

Yes, but if there was a feed zone, it's entirely possible that he took a
neutral feed (meaning he just got water and didn't have someone there
handing him a bottle with his own electrolyte drink mix) and would therefore
need to down some electrolytes, especially if it was a hot day. Gel packets
don't have nearly enough. I add Enduro-lytes (a Hammergel product) to my
Accelerade on especially hot days, and I suppose some people might prefer to
ingest them as a capsule, as they don't mix especially well in liquid.

The guy would be a dumbass (also entirely possible) to ingest something
illegal in full view of his competitors.

At the RR in Fitchburg, I remembered at the last minute that I hadn't added
my Enduro-caps to my drinks. My husband ran some over to me at the start
line and I started dumping them in my bottles before realizing how that must
look. I kind of felt the need to announce to those around me what they
were- because they are some pretty dubious-looking white capsules!

Seems to me taking electrolyte-mineral tabs along the way isn't a very
effective delivery system. I've been using this ELETE
(http://www.paklyte.com/) for a few months and it works ok, no cramps
and not all the damn sugar of 'sports drinks'

Of course I wouldn't expect idiots to know what e-caps were but then not
everyone is trdina. Psst - perfectly legal vitamin suppliment and lots of
people swear by them. I think that they actually do have some effect but it

How the hell do you know what someone is scarfing down?
Not a bad idea. Do it in public, no hesitation, offer some around and you're
probably covered until you get tested.
Hide it in plain sight works a lot more than we'd think.
