  1. Does anyone know the weight and FAT% of a pro cyclist that's 5' 4" (5 Feet 4 inches) or 5' 3.5" ? Or, if you are a Cat 1 racer of same height, what is your weight and body Fat% ?

They called Marco Pantani small, but he was 5' 7" (1.71m) and about 123 lbs (56 kg).

I'd like to know because I'm 5' 3.5" tall -- and I'd like to know what is a good racing weight for me.

  2. mmm, you male then?? not too sure from your name sorry!!

i race pro, or at least semi pro, tho im female and mainly concentrate on the hill climbs, i have a body fat % of 10 +/- depending on the time of year and weigh about 7st 5 (again +/-).
i'd say this was probably ok / good for a woman?? can any one confirm this but i dont think i could lose anymore weight might be able to lower body fat thought which hmmm, would bring down my weight!! 🙄 d'oh, lol

by the way....im same height as you..approx 5'3"

  3. btw.....thats a bout 104 / 105 lbs

A lot of this depends on your bone structure. If you have small bones, you will be lighter than a large bone person at ideal weight. I don't know who would make this determination about ideal weight.

  5. "I'm not fat I'm big boned!"
"Well have you ever seen a big boned skeleton?"

I'm a male, and my body weight is currently 171 lbs at 20% body fat. Will go down to 10 % fat -- but that'll take another 12 to 20 weeks of biking at the current rate I'm going. I started out obese at 200 lbs 32.6% Fat. Lost 20lbs in the last 12 weeks from biking and dieting -- I biked at around 85% to 87% MHR average to burn off a lot of fat. I guess I skipped basic aerobic training at 70% to 80% MHR. But my avg speed per heart rate still increased with my anaerobic training.

Is it hard maintaining a body fat of 10% ? Do you have to watch your diet or else the weight comes back on quickly ?

I guess I would be interested in the stats of a small male pro or Cat 1 cyclist.

Well, I found the stats on one pro racer who is close to the height --
Alexandre Botcharov 1.61m (5’ 4.56”) & 54kg (119 lbs) -- he must be very lean !! They said he is the lightest pro racer out there.

Does anyone know the height /weight / body fat% and name of a 5’3.5” pro racer ?

  8. not sure bout keeping weight down, but i've always been bout the weight i am now......and as for body fat....since i brought it down from 14% i've had no problems keeping it down......dont watch what i eat at all.......but train about 14 hrs a week and it seems to keep my fat level down.....tho to be pro i reckon i need to bring it down to bout 6% maybe....but could take up to a year possibly.....btw...im still a junior racer

  9. I'm about 5' 9" and my weight fluctuates from 125 - 130, never above 130. I have very little body fat, and eat like a maniac (thanks to my metabolism)

Wow. That's low if you're a guy. It's nice to be able to eat as much as you want all the time and not to worry about gaining weight.

You must be a good climber.

  11. Bones don't weigh much do they?

I've got these fancy state of the art scales that measure my

    bones. 3.3kg

muscle 62kg (up and down +/- 4kg over a month)

BMI 26% down from 31% at its worst.

My total weight is about 86kg at the moment. (down from 93 over a year ago).

I'm trying to lose weight of course and slowly. I've been on a plateau which is hard to hurdle.

Everytime I push to get over this plateau my muscle mass drops by 3 or 4 kg and my BMI fluctuates between +/- 3% in a day... (as does my weight) water content...

I am only 172cm tall... 12 years ago I was 68kg, and that's pretty close to Robbie McEwen proportions... I should be able to get to 75...

If I could ride 100kms a day I'd be Robbie McEwen like in no time. (body proportions)
Being a father/teacher/internet bum, it's going to be a long road.....

I think, you should try and get your BMI to a healthy athletes percentage and work on maintaining strength. 15 to 18%BMI would make a world of difference to me. I can probably afford to lose more muscle too. Large biceps, chest and back muscles are not that helpful to my cycling....

  12. I hate to be picky but BMI isn't a percentage. The units should be kg*m^-2 if you're going to state them at all.

Thanks. I always thought it seemed strange as a percentage.... now I know why!

    No worries 🙂

I always find being picky helps everyone in the long run...
