Is a Giro helmet, say a $200 Eclipse, so much better than a cheap $50 Kmart
special ?
Or are you just paying for the name ?

Or are you just paying for the name ?They are often lighter, better vented, have a better fastening system
and, yes, they look cool and have a "good" name. Whether or not they
are more likely to stop your brain leaking out in an accident is up to the
crash test dummies to decide...hippy

Look at the Italian helmets like Met & Limar which usually have better
fitting/sizing systems, a mid-range helmet wouldn't set you back much over
$100 , there are lots of other nice helmets out of Europe but the
constraints of the Australian Standards means they are not viable to import,
like LAS which was one the most popular helmets in this year's Tour .
