I have nothing to offer but I don't think you can jam a 27.2 seatpost
into a 26.8 seat tube.

Sometimes you can...once. Getting it out is even more difficult.

I can't help but wonder if that was a type-o. Putting a 26.8 post in a 27.2
hole would be ok. However, you get the ugly shim to go with it. I saw a 27.2
post in a 26.8 once... it split the seat tube.

I'd suggest trading with someone on this group.

I'm intending to use a 1 1/8" clamp-on front deraileur that I already have!!

BTW.... you could ream a 28.6 hole in the end of the 27.2 seatpost such
that the post would fit on the outside of the tube 😉 limited
adjustability, cut post to length.
