Are you sure about that time because that means he swam at a rate of 4.3km an hour, that means under 14 minutes a km. There is not many people that can do that or even come close.
Well, I issued a news item by reading spanish press agency but I must admit I didn't pay attention. I checked again several new items issued since yesterday and each one report the same data, according one of them he was even faster by swimming in 22.5 hours! Anyways, if I well remember I read at the beginning of the week that true distance was 90km, this is more acceptable I think. Is there someone in this NG that could check the distance from Jávea (Alicante) and San Antonio (Ibiza), using any internet facilities?

David Meca is the spanish world champion for the 25km Open Water. Not many people are world champion for the 25km Open Water. And he probably had a wetsuit at this time of the year, which makes him swim a bit faster. Open Water is coming at the Olympics. Open Water champions should endly start to become well known...

I knew a guy in Australia (not very well, can't remember his name), who swam 100km in 24 hours in the pool. He got a 5 minute break every hour. I think he was in the Guiness book.
I knew also a guy from Australia who swam between 110-120 k for a 24 hours swim, if my memory is good. His name is Grant Robinson. He was something like 6'3" and 210 pounds, lot of muscles, no fat. He won almost all the races he entered one year(around 1997 probably).

That's a different guy. The guy I knew did it earlier, and I think his name was Evan Barry.
