  1. Let's all pool our creative culinary experiences for the benefit of others.
    Positive creations only please!!

(thread inspired by the person who wants cheese covered pork rinds and dips
them in melted cheese for now)

Yesterday I made a yummy treat:

Smoked Salmon and cream cheese served on a pork rind.

Salmon was gone today so I had cream cheese on them and it was delicious!

I have only used them as a "chip substitute", but I can see enormous
    potential!!

  2. Pork rinds, when ground thoroughly and mixed with flour, water, and
newspaper, give excellent color to paper mache. You can make a bust of a
former president with these simple household materials.

  3. Crush pork rinds in a food processor and use as "breading" for chicken,
    pork chops, etc.

Use pork rinds in place of breadcrumbs in just about anything. Hubby
prefers them now in meatloaf and meatballs. I like to dip them in
    onion/chive cream cheese!

They make passable doggy treats; that's about the only use I've been able to

You know, I absolutely cannot stand just eating pork rinds out of the bag.
But as a breading for fried chicken strips or nuggets . . . yum!

  7. My dog doesn't like them, yet he loves bacon. Go figure.

The main problem I have with eating pork rinds is that they are so d*mn
    salty!

  10. fuel for the campfire....

  11. One of my dogs loves his "salty snacks" so much that if I don't buy them for a
while he will start pouting in front of the pantry🙂Robyn

  12. Pork rind cake with cream cheese topping (sweetened with splenda). Google
    for recipe.

Not cake by any means, but it holds its own with some coffee.

  13. I like them with LC soup in place of crackers. Dipped in tuna salad.
Sprayed with Pam and sprinkled with cinnamon and Splenda. I don't eat
them that much anymore, but I love the microwave kind.

Hmm. I have sevaral containers of the -flavoured- microwave kind. They all
    list 160mg Sodium per serving.

    Good though!

Wow! Someone on lc that doesn't rave about pork rinds! I don't feel so
    alone now. LOL

We've tried them by themselves. We've tried them as breading. We've
tried them in meatloafs, etc. The results have always turned out
horribly. I can't even stand the smell of them anymore. *sigh*

    I'm another one who doesn't ;-) But then again, I don't know if I've
shed my 'food purist' reputation yet, so it may not matter one way or
    the other.

But for me it's because there are certain animals I won't eat, even if I
were on the brink of death from starvation <grin>

For years I have made a delectible avocado dip. When I
    think about it
    it is relatively low carb:

2 California Avocados removed from skin
1 8 oz package cream cheese

cut in together with a pastry cutter

Add 2 Tablespoons Mayo, 1 Tab Miracle Whip,
1 Tablespoon of Real Lemon Lemon juice and salt and pepper to taste.
OMG it is good. I used to eat it with rippled Lays chips but
it is great with pork rinds too. The Miracle whip gives it a
bite, the lemon juice prevents major browning and gives it a bite too.
I come up with 20 carbs for a giant hearty bowl of it!!!!
Myra said 3.8gr of carbs per avocado??
so round it to 4x2 so.......
    8 for avocados
8 (rounded off) for cream cheese
1 for 2 Tablespoon of mayo
2 for a Tablespoon of Miracle whip
1 for Tablespoon of Real Lemon Lemon Juice You have to try it. My dad
made this recipe for years and it took me a while to master it but I
    do say.......... DELICIOUS!!

I don't know about 'better', but the little tubs take up little space, and
you make them fresh when and how much you want.

This is the brand I like: (I bought mine at Low Carb Nation in Tulatin, OR)
    http://www.microwaveporkrinds.com

I've tried all flavors and they are consistently good.

  20. To me there is no comparison between the microwave rinds and those
horrible dry things they stick in most bags. I like J and J Critters
microwave brand the best, but I've been careful about ordering them
because I tend to overeat them. They are too good. :-)
