  1. I was wondering if the firmware update for the 2.4 (saris.comPermaLink,guid,e62c84c7 e9d5 4237 bcfb 06dabb6be03e.aspx) is only to be done if one is updating the hub to ANT+ Sport Technology ?

I will e-mail Saris on this but just un case someone knows the answer already..

I'd say that since that webpage says "Time in Zones and Peak Power are available for CPU's paired with ANT+ Sport PowerTap. If your PowerTap hub doesn't have ANT+ Sport, Time in Zones and Peak Power will not be available on your CPU" then that update can be used to bring the computer upto the latest firmware level but you won't see some of the functions that are available if you have a ANT+ compatible hub.

  3. I'm reading that this is to update a CPU to match the capabilities of a ANT+ hub (or an older hub that has recently been upgraded to ANT+). If your hub is not ANT+, then there's no reason to update the CPU firmware.

    Hope that's clear as mud.

That is my read too. At least we see the same mud!

I recommend not upgrading if you don't upgrade the hub. After I upgraded the head unit but hadn't upgraded the hub I lost my connection to WKO+ and now I can't download the PT head unit into WKO. I have to use the Power Agent software and then export it so I can open it in WKO. Can't figure out what the problem is. I also had a lot more drop outs until I upgraded the hub too.

You need to update WKO+ to build 102 (or later) to be able to download from the upgraded head unit.
