Wow, 540 cm wheels would certainly make quite an impression but you'd
need to watch out for low clearance bridges and cables. Presuming you
meant mm instead, what problem are you having with the wheels?
Frequently only one component needs to be replaced (i.e. hub, rim,
spokes).

Off at a tangent, but when do bigger wheels stop being advantageous?
If 29ers are better than 26ers off road, would a 36er be better still?
If 700c are better than 650c at 30mph on smooth roads, is that still
true at 40mph?

540mm wheels are pretty odd, but if you want 'em, you can get a nice

I suspect the cranks are shorter than "normal" also, so it would be
good to know what length the arms are right now. Early Raleighs had a

The two main places I know of, to maybe locate parts for your bike is via
www.sheldonbrown.com using Harris Cyclery or maybe via www.yellowjersey.org

540 is a pretty common wheelchair size, so rims, tyres, tubes etc. can
be had from wheelchair dealers as well. It's interchangeable with 541
(a.k.a 600A).
