How strange. The website is mostly untested against IE, but you should
have got something. Does it just display badly?

I'll try testing it with IE when I pop into work today.

Looks ok using Firefox on Linux (Gentoo). Any reason for using a
frameset other than layout? If not, you can achieve that layout without
having to use frames; which in some pony-tail rich environments are
considered the Spawn-Of-Satan.

The frameset is a masking thing. The website is hosted in a subdirectory
of www.restlesslemon.co.uk and the frameset is the forwarding system.
Other than that... no reason at all. The frameset is not used for
layout. Mark T's introduction to CSS got me started onto using CSS for
layout design.

Works fine on IE6 but not if you click on the link in either of the two
posts above (using OE6) - you either have to enter the URL directly into the
address bar or arrive there by other means (Google etc).

Now if I talk nicely to my mate with the workshop....

closing </body> tag rather than before the DOCTYPE. The W3C validator
will help spot this and other HTML issues: http://validator.w3.org/

I suspect it's because they lack the "http://". To test it, I'll try
inserting it and see what happens:

However, here , if you add a space after 'url:' , which I have a
feeling was how it is in the RFC (BICBW) then it works here

Actually , I don't tend to bother with the 'url' bit. for those
newsreaders which do understand the <> delimiters this seems to work
fine, most can extract various urls anyway, they mostly seem to help
with those that wrap.

Oops. Rookie error! Probably the result of an abberant copy & paste!
Corrected, as were the other errors. The only validation error now
appears to be coming from the server itself.

It will continue to develop over the next week, not least because I will
add more photos of Hooves2 (As soon as I manage to find a reliable
transfer method from work!).

One of which has now gone. They are a consequence of my planning the
content before it was written and wishing to avoid having to redo the
menu, which a lack of server side scripting has forced to be
hand-tweaked for each page.

The site may be moving to a home of its own soon which will hopefully
make it easier to maintain!

The forwarding frame is, as usual, a problem.

For the pages themselves you would need to either get the server admin
to sort out an HTTP character set declaration or (much easier in most
cases) add a character set declaration into the <head> in lieu of the
server adding the correct one.
