Nah - my newserver deletes spam pretty successfully, but 'viagra' and its variations was the only example I could think of at the moment to illustrate the problem with keyword blocking, all the while trying to watch football on TV and type on the computer. And I don't KF gmail because of spam - I KF gmail becaues of the bad crazies who post from there.

Ok, maybe not a *real* newsreader to some, but a stand-alone program as opposed to web-based methods of accessing Usenet. I know there are OE haters out there. :-P I've tried Agent, Xnews, Thunderbird, 40tude, Pan, and Pine, and I keep going back to OE. It does what I want about 90% of the time. I stand by the fact that Gmail is not the problem - it's Google Groups. Some newsservers do not allow munged email addys anyway .

They may own it, but they're not using it. That URL returns a "Server not found" message. Test e-mails get "Host or domain name not found. Name service error for name=geemail.com type=A: Host found but no data record of requested type". So I don't think I'm going to bother anyone. However, just in case, I changed it one last time. I'm nice like that...

Might want to have a look at an app called PopFile, it's nominally for applying a Bayesian filter to email but it can be used with newsgroups, etc.

That's all well and good. I've got a rule to block any posts that refer to Nike in the subject. (Who on earth would by sneakers from a spammer, anyway?) But you can't always know what key words these sneaky [censored] will put in their subject lines. And the majority of this SPAM comes from people with @gmail.com as their email address. It gets old trying to block every possible combination of keywords these losers might dream up.
