Not much of a ride I'll admit, but it's the first time out on the GH
without taking into consideration my 'state' when I got there.
Just over six and a half miles in 31mins, so not even particularly fast,
but I was somewhat knakered and sweaty at the end.
Set of from home down on a gentle down hill, then a faster downhill
reaching a top speed of just over 30mph. A short uphill which due to
having the courage to go round the corner at the bottom fast enough, id
didn't need to pedal too much. Stop at the lights. Turn right slight up
hill, short down hill then flat for about a mile. Remembering to spin.
Stop at the lights. Straight on then uphill for about a mile, drop
through the gears. remember to spin. Short flat, then more uphill. Spin,
drop into 2nd lowest, thern briefly lowest. To low, back to 2nd. short
flat again upo th egears a bit. Start daydreaming. forget to change down
sart mashing. right knee hurts. Drop back through the gears and SPIN.
turn left slight up. turn left onto A12 at the end of dual carrige way.
Not flat, but not really hilly. more up and down a bit, but still able
to go up the gears a bit. spin. Have taken the primary road position, so
cars Have to go onto cross hatching dwon centre of road to overtake.
Most give me plenty of room. one or two don't ;( Approaching the
roundabout now. single lane widens into tow lanes, but not before the
central reservation starts. I move into the centre of the single lane to
iscourage overtaking, then move into the near side land, but still in
centre of lane. No cars anyway. Round the roundabout and onto the dual
carrigeway. Max speed on here is 40mph, not going to be a problem to me
though 🙂 take the nearside lane, all of it. All but one car use the off
side lane and overtake sensibly. One didn't and was just two close to
me. Mind you, he then continued down the road astride the lane markings.
Burk. Turn left of Dual carrige way. nearly home now. down hill
slightly, then left into our road, being careful as ther is usually a
load of sand and gravel on the road. then gentle up hill to home. 31
mins. 6.65 miles.
God, but I'm unfit. As I say not far, and not fast, but a start. I've
also started a diet with SWMBO! The plan is to do this ride three times
a week ot start with, along with transport rides. We'll see how it goes.
