  1. Hi,
I'm in Paris and when scouting around for the bike that would take me on all my tours for the next twenty years, I'd more or less settled on a Dawes Ultra Galaxy (2,000€ / roughly US$ 2,900). Then I started scouting around the web and came across the Surly Long Haul Trucker, and was like, wow!

    It just looks right.

Then a look at the Bike Buying pages of these forums brought me face to face with this ..

    fujibikes.comenlarge.asp

    ... and that's also a very sexy bike, and only ~ US$ 900.

Anyone here got any views? It has to be strong, light (but not featherweight), and reliable. It's going to be loaded up with front and rear panniers, tent, sleeping bag etc., and a Brooks B17.

    Thanks in advance.

  2. Well, that's one of my questions answered: FujiBikes Europe tell me that the tourer is no longer made. 🙁

I'll bet there are some unsold Fuji touring bikes around ... get a list of dealers, and contact ALL of them, starting with those closest to you.

Of course, you could always scour eBay for a "used" bike/frame.

Nah, I've just managed to find a Surly dealer here in France, so things look to be on track. Thanks.

If you purchase this bike I would really appreciate an evulation after a period of time. I am thinking of doing some touring next year and this bike seems okay.

Yeah, no probs. Surly tells me that they're currently out of stock and that they won't have any until December, but I'm buying mine here in France and the stockist here says that they have some. It won't be until February that I can buy it, so I might contact them at the end of the year and order it in advance.

Heh, I just found this by chance ...

    fujibikes.combikes.asp

Awesome! Another possibility for next February. 🙂

Great. Hopefully, Tribe Sport Group (www.fmfsportgroup.com) can set you up with a shop that is close to you ...
