I used to do very little between November and March, every year it has been harder and harder to get
fit enough for my summer rides. This year I have forced myself to get out at least once a week,
usually twice every week. I actually rather enjoy night rides, very little traffic.

Not quite 'ex' yet! Still lurking and trying to keep up-to-date with new posts, but having spent far
too much time off the bike this autumn (due to other commitments, which paid off in the shape of a
PhD at long last), I haven't had too much input to offer re. my own cycling experiences. Hopefully
this ought to change in the New Year as my previously dismembered road bike is now back up and
running, thanks to a few Christmas gifts from Mum & Dad, the odd items from sales [1], not to
mention an assortment of old (but perfectly OK) components [2] I forgot I had!

The stop was very quick indeed, though I carried on moving after the bike came to a halt, sailing
over the handlebars! Still, it makes you appreciate one big advantage of Look pedals over toeclips &

[1] Best seasonal bargain was a pair of brand new Miche clipless pedals (with plates) for ten quid!
[2] Still devoid of a wheelset, though. At present it shares a pair of Open Pro wheels with Ti-axle
hubs from the 'cross bike; the latter is pretty much my competition machine these days, with the
road bike used for training purposes. A slightly less flash set of wheels for the road bike
would be nice, so if anyone has a reasonable pair of S/H 700c wheels built on Campag 9sp. hubs
(pref. Mirage or Veloce) for sale, drop me a line and I'll think it over....
