That's absurd. No one is claiming that any and all possible distractions should be made illegal. There's a tradeoff to be made between the benefit and/or necessity of a given potential distraction, and the potential of that distraction for causing harm. Cell phone use WHILE DRIVING, esp. without the use of various "hands free" options, is demonstrably long on the potential harm, and very short on the benefit/necessity.
