  1. To any who were considering a trip to the Aldi in Musselbrough <sp?>
when I visited this morning, their stocks appeared very high (except for
socks) and they even had one of the monster heavy mountain bikes. Worth
seeing for the "Carbon look" swingarm which so obviously isn't.

I will provide some feedback on the HRM wireless computer soon as I have
one for a friend and one for myself.

I meant to do a hunt for an Aldi as soon as I finished perusing the
group! Whereabouts is the store in Musselburgh?

    Go to http://uk.aldi.com/
Click on "Where to find us" at the bottom of the page.
    Enter Musselburgh

    | Newhailes Road
    | EH21 6RE

    Click on "map".
It's just west of a roundabout with Olive Bank Road.

The current "Special buys" can be found at:

Hmm - no cycling stuff, and it's dated from 29th.

Does that mean if I traipse out to Aldi tomorrow (i.e. the 29th) it'll
    all be in vain?

Or is the cycling stuff there at teh special Offer prices until it
    runs out?

Don't know. Probably worth traipsing out today just in case.

The cycling stuff was on "special" from two weeks ago. There were
large piles left in the Darlington store on Saturday 24th, after the
new week's specials had appeared. Sorry, but I can't say how long
    they keep stuff on display.

IME it seems to stay there until it runs out. It's really pot luck:
some stuff goes straight away, some stays for ages - I was in my local
branch a couple of days ago, and there were plenty of gilets, plenty
    of computers, but little else.

One useful consumable which hasn't been mentioned here is the big tube
of cable ties: very good value, and damned useful, on bike or off. I
always have a few in the toolkit when I go out, on the grounds that
they weigh almost nothing, but could rescue a ride.

Okay, I've now been. And yes - the stuff doesn't go 'off offer' once
    the week is over.

There were when I left late yesterday afternoon, still a doesn't
heart-rate computers, stacks of £4 computers, and, indeed, everything
    else.

Having gone for a heart rate computer, I got shirts, a gilet, a
jacket, shorts, cheapo gloves for emergency use

....and a 160GB hard disk drive! (Samsung £80)

And a paddling pool for my toddler.

Just as well I went by bus and not bike*, as my panniers wouldn't have
    taken it all.

    * which I get back later today!
