My touring bike (Fuji) was in a trailer that got into a traffic accident. The rear wheel was tacoed. I tried ordering a replacement Alex DA16 rim from my LBS, a Fuji dealer. They tell me while some Alex rims are imported into the US, they can't find a distributor who can get a DA16. So my questions are:
1) Does anyone know where I can get a replacement 36 hole DA16?
2) If totally unavailable, what would be a reasonable replacement? If possible I'd like to keep the same (or close) ERD so I can just swap rims on the old spokes.

Alex Rims are good value for money but they are sometimes a little hard to find. I once had an Alex R400 32H front wheel on my race bike. It was a great wheel until I accidentally got it wedged in a roadside water drainage grating. That rim got permanently bent out of true. I ordered a replacement from the same local mail-order LBS. I waited 2 months before getting my new R400. And get this, I live about 35 miles from the Alex Rims factory. I figure they're probably going full blast filling Christmas OEM orders and can't be bothered with inky-dink purchasers. I know for sure that if you email asking them about who retails their products in the USA that they will reply with pertinent info.
My suggestion is if you don't won't to wait is to get the Mavic T519. It's a solid tourer rim and I think readily available. I use them on my tour bike. Sturdy and no complaints and they don't cost an arm and a leg. Check out Nashbar. Sometimes they have them on sale.
I picked up a few Alex rims recently, black annodized, 36H IIRC, but I think they're X-101s not DA16s
Could part with one if you need...

Your challenge is Alex stopped making the DA16s in 700C. There may be some out there, but my searches didn't show any. Alex RPD15 looks like it might fit your application, but since I don't know ERDs involved... it might not use same spoke lengths: alexrims.comr rpd15.htmOpen ↗ Alex uses a "wear line indicator" to meet the German law and show when the sidewall is worn to the point of needing replacement. Alex pins their rim joints.
There are some total wheels with Mavic T519s on Deore hubs floating around in the bargain basement of major on-line sellers. You might be able to pick up one of those at such a reasonable price your search may be over. Mavic T519 is a very sturdy eyelet/socketed rim that predated the German requirement for wear indicators. T520 was it's replacement and then A719. I have used them all and don't see any functional differences. T510 & A719 both have internal wear indicators... while T519 doesn't. All these Mavic's have welded seams and machined brake tracks.
