That is true. It experience it myself many times when i'm on my bike.
People who have never took a ride on a race bike, don't realize it
goes a lot faster than those rusty old geezer bikes.

Glad you're ok.

When I'm driving and see a lone cyclist/runner/walker I always think
to myself "where is the training partner?" Seems to me just telling
non cyclist drivers that cyclists often come in twos or mores would go
a great deal in keeping cyclists from being run over.

Yup, you're right, you're your own best self defence.
