    Yes.

Nonetheless, you should inform your doctor that your blood pressure has been high.

BP tends to be lower during sleep and increases a little bit upon wakening. Once awake and active,
BP typically increases by 5 to 10 points diastolic (lower) and systolic (upper).

I often use a 24 hour blood pressure monitor to determine nocturnal BP. With elevation of sleep time
BP, I can get a better handle on other issues as well, including sleep apnea:

Yes, I have; he has recommended a cardiologist who performed all the tests (stress with imaging,
heart imaging) and found nothing wrong, but unlike the family doc, cardiologist agreed that my
diastolic is slightly high and put me on micardis. This has lowered my average from about 90 to
about 83, but the the BP still varies over about the same large range as before.

Is there a known condition that results in unusually high range? I am presently ascribing part of
this to the inaccuracies of the wrist monitor, but believe most of it is real. In addition, I am
sure that BP varies considerably depending on what you just did/ate/amount of sleep/etc, and on
emotional condition (everybody has stressful events in life).

For example, does BP tend to be higher during cold spells in winter?

I had to look "Labile" up in the dictionary. I do wish doctors were not so clever:-) Derek.
