An apology to hikers

had a low opinion of hikers.

Today on my ride I was proven wrong by two hikers that I met on the
trail. Not only did they lend my some bug dope, mosquitoes were brutal
today (excellent incentive to keep moving mind you) , they pointed me to
a new trail section that I've never ridden before, and I suggested
avoiding certain sections that were still under water. We wished each
other a good ride/hike and went own our way.

Too bad this example is going to be lost on the two who need to learn
from it the most.

This is not the exception. It is more the norm, at least where I ride.
Maryland and Delaware are shining examples of multiple users all
getting along. When everyone is happy, the land managers are happy.
When the land managers are happy they allow more trails to be built,
including many non-equestrian trails.

same over here in the UK. you get a few who are a little overzealous/overprotective, but then you have to remember that a lot of hikers bike as well so they know both sides of the fence as it were.

Hows the fight against road construction going? Lots of design jobs coming into our office at the moment. Looks like the world has ignored MV and decided to build. Bit of a shame really, but it demonstrates that in your life you have achieved NOTHING of note.
