  1. I have recently been diagnosed that I have tinnitus. The doctor suggests this type of tinnitus is
    related to my vasecular conditions.

Q1: Should I take some synthetic medication to lower my cholestrol level a bit more(currently 5.27
on TC and 2.94 of LDL C) as they are at the high ends of the range?
Q2: If after 3 months, everything is OK and my cholestrol level comes down considerably, could I
discontinue the medication at that time?

"Another question for you, Dr. Chung."

Well, I'm not Dr. Chung, but to my knowledge there is no evidence anywhere in the tinnitus
literature that suggests normalizing cholesterol will impact tinnitus.

Now there is a LOT of evidence that a person is better off from a cardiac standpoint with a normal
lipid profile. So I would follow your doctor's recommendation regarding your cholesterol management
(diet or pharmacological) irrespective of the presence or absence of tinnitus.

One other thing, for what it's worth. I don't know how Dr. Chung feels about this, but you are
asking some specific questions about your case and requesting medical advice. Please know that in
doing so, you put any doctors who wander through here at a disadvantage - and therefore put yourself
at a disadvantage. Maybe it's best to stick to generalities?

    Just my $.02 ...

That would be a decision that only you can make after discussing your concerns with your doctor(s).

Logically speaking, if my tinnitus is related to my vasecular conditions, the lowering of cholestrol
either through drugs or vitamin E would help the vasecular conditions of mine and indirectly help my
tinnitus. Would you think that is a good assumption?

I PERFECTLY AGREE. Yes, specifics are restricted to what is between a patient and his doctor.

That is a good suggestion but unfortunately 2 doctors of mine do think cleaning up the blood vessels
is part of the solution to tinnitus, the other one, who is a herbalist, obviously disagrees. So in
order to figure out who is revealing the 'truth', i have to judge each of them by the results of
taking the medication they prescribe to me. So far the herbalist makes most sense. His prescribed
medicine has turned the ringing sound into the sound of water flowing through a pipe.
