No experience with Dinotte but I've been using the locally manufacturered
and produced Ayups for a few months and couldn't be happier so I'll give
them a plug. Performance and price is outstanding so it might be worth

I use one of their front lights with a 5W LED - and it has been
excellent. The one i bought cost US$179 and can be helmet mounted or
handle mounted. I use mine of the handlebars - it is very quick and easy
to mount using a rubber O ring. It is powered by 4 NiMH AA cells which
lasts a little over two hours on the brightest setting. These batteries
are cheap and easy to source at local electronic shops - if you want a
second set. I use the charger supplied and all i added was an adapter
for our sockets.

I ordered it from there website and it arrived a few days later.

So far i have only used it for night riding on roads. It was
recommended to me by a friend that used one for night mountain biking -
and he uses two of these lights for single tracks (One would be ok for
fire trails)

For this sort of money, have a look at ayup.com.au - CREE LEDs, nicely
designed, LiPo batteries - and an Aussie product. I have them and
while I haven't used any others of this class, they stand up well on
their own.

Except that the LiPo batteries will only last a year or two, and then
you hope that the company still exists after they fail, and that are
still selling the same model batteries.

Mind you, I was awfully close to buying one of the ayups or dinottes
today -- LEDs are starting to look good. I think I'm going to keep
stretching out my niteflux lights until the batteries go kaput. I was
thinking of replacing the 5W halogen in the niteflux with one of these:

My experience with LiPos in mobile phones is much better than that.
