paint (dupli color automotive touch up).
Yes, it is.
Quoted message said:My questions are: 1. how
long do I need to wait before applying decals
A couple days is probably enough. Longer won't hurt, you want all the
solvents to evaporate. Lacquer looses it's solvents quickly.
Quoted message said:and 2. should I scuff
sand before applying decals?
No, but you should rub down the bike with a light polishing compound
to finish off the lacquer. Don't use rubbing compound. You could try
polishing compound. (US terminology). If you're really into it, visit
the auto body store and get a selection from around 1200 up to 1800.
Go light with the aggressive stuff. You may end up going through the
paint and respraying. The nice thing about lacquer is that there is no
problem blending. buffing out between coats is what give you a nice
finish.
Quoted message said:Will applying the decals too early trap
escapong vapors and cause paint damage?
Or decal damage. Give it a few days.
Quoted message said:Also, I will be applying a
clear coat over the decals.
Definitely buff before decals and clear coat. The clear coat is really
just protection for the spectacular finish you create underneath.
